A Deferred-Work Recovery Blueprint for Independent Repair Shops

The target evidence: eligible deferred work resurfaces at the right time, with a clear reason and a measurable outcome.

01 · The problem

Declined work is often stored as free text inside a shop system or spreadsheet. Service advisors must remember what was deferred, when it becomes important, whether the customer is eligible for contact, and what happened after the reminder.

02 · The system

Import only the fields needed for the workflow, normalize the deferred service and date, apply contact and suppression rules, and prepare a specific reminder when the timing is appropriate. Replies, bookings, attendance, completed work, and payment remain separate events.

03 · Expected evidence

A successful workflow should reduce manual chase lists while preserving customer context and consent. The operator sees which deferred items are ready, which require review, and which produced verified completed work rather than a decorative recovery number.
